The Tuning Song Collection!

Hey y'all! As a part of trying to raise money for our upcoming UK tour, we decided to put out an entire album (digital download) of some of our favorite recent tuning songs. We're bursting our buttons with excitement. A lot of girly-fans have been asking for this, so we're happy to introduce _Girlyman: The Tuning Songs Collection, Vol. 1_, an entire album of our tuning songs spontaneously made up while someone was taking too long to tune at a live show. You can now sing along to such gems as "Blame the Garbage Man", "Oomph Machine" and "Olestra" and learn exciting historical facts about antipopes and the advantages of putting a tambourine in a shark's mouth. JJ plays the graduation march, Nate is emasculated, Doris sings like Bob Dylan and Ty seeks a new job. UK Tour Dates Announced! As some of you know, this fall we're making our first trip across the pond to the lovely UK. Almost all of our shows have now been confirmed, and tickets are available for many of them already. The lovely and talented Ashleigh Flynn will be opening many of these shows. Well, we kept hemming and hawing - Doris wanted a video like Aha's "Take On Me", Ty wanted to do the dance from "Thriller", and Nate basically wanted Madonna's "Like a Prayer." Well, cartoonization, zombie makeup, and burning crosses aside, we were *thrilled* when our new friend Margaret Cho said she wanted to direct a video of "Young James Dean." We're exuberant beyond belief with the result (although Nate's still sad there's no stigmata scene). The Newest Girlyman!

Introducing the Newest Girlyman! We are pleased as punch - no, we're more pleased than that. We're utterly beside ourselves. No, we didn't have a baby. But we did adopt a very cute human. JJ Jones is an old friend and a fantastic drummer whom we've crossed paths with many times over the years, and when we finally got to play with her over the past couple months, something just clicked. Our sound got bigger and closer to what we had all imagined it to be for years. So, what else could we do? We gagged her and threw her in the Girlyvan. We're excited for you to meet her. Hometown-ish shows!

Girlyman will be finishing up the year in southern style with a handful of shows in North Carolina and Georgia, including another TWO SHOW night at Eddie's Attic in Decatur! We're so excited for these hometown (and close-to-hometown) shows. We'll have drummer extraordinaire JJ Jones with us, as well as our new CD, Everything's Easy, and some brand spankin' new Girlyman t-shirts too, just in time for the holidays! Hope you can join us for these last few shows of 2009. Thanks for another great year, y'all! It's been the best yet, truly.

East coast CD release tour starts 9/30/09!

Girlyman's east coast CD release tour for the new album 'Everything's Easy' starts next week! We'll be hitting cities from Maine down to Virginia, and we'll have our new friends Po' Girl (www.pogirl.net) with us. We just got back from a little Canada jaunt with them, and so far the energy has been through the roof. Collaboration! Revelry! Even more instruments onstage! And we'll be borrowing their drummer, JJ Jones, which means that Ty can play other things for a while. Creativity! Hope you can come celebrate with us. :)
